What a great teacher and even more, a great soul. I was one of his early students and was introduced to the trombone. Though the trombone and I never quite meshed, Mr "E" and I always maintained that connection. Years later he would approach me after he learned that I had become accomplished on the guitar and invited back into band. I still see him, tall, white shirt, and tie, always a presence in and around the bandroom, the auditorium, and the halls. Warm, smiling, and ready to assist. Those who knew him are better for it. Thank you. Best regards. MSCS John Kulas USN Retired. Class of 75.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Everly's passing. I transferred to HFCS in the middle of my sophomore year, and was fortunate enough to be in Mr. Everly's band. He was so kind to me as a new student -- he made a scary experience so much better for me. I'll always remember him going out of his way to integrate me into the band and helping me feel comfortable with my new classmates. Mr. Everly was so encouraging, patient, and funny (not to mention such a talented musician!). He really was a bright spot in my life.

Mr. Everly was everything his friends and students have written. He was a kind, insightful, understanding teacher of exceptional standards, with a special, contagious love for music and his students. I had the good fortune, with so many, to have had his fine instruction and the example of his love for music - an inspiration - throughout my years at Hoosick Falls Central. He believed in each and every student and his/her individual talent - never showing favoritism - encouraging excellence and instilling confidence. My passion for my instrument flourished because of Mr. E. Whenever I have a desire to play, I think of this great, music teacher at HFCS. We all loved and respected him. He has left a beautiful legacy. My sincerest sympathy to his family at this difficult time. Mr. Everly, you have so many reasons to smile down on your former students - we all love you.

Luther was a major part of the Golden Age of Education at Hoosick Falls. It was an honor to be a co-worker and friend.
