Helen Pratt Obituary

SOUTH CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- Helen R. (Holland) Pratt, 81, a resident of Pratt Lane in South Cambridge, N.Y., died peacefully Wednesday evening Jan. 23, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born in Danby on Oct. 2, 1926, the daughter of Thomas and Ruth (Brown) Holland and attended local schools. Helen married Wilson H. Pratt in Danby on Oct. 4, 1947. Mr. Pratt died in 1998.

She loved her home and cherished times spent with her family especially her grandchildren and enjoyed following them in sporting events they were involved in. Helen was a member of the South Cambridge Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Women Group at the church and enjoyed crafts.

Helen is survived by her children: Floyd Pratt of Buskirk, N.Y., Bonnie Williams and her husband John of Grand Junction, Colo., Andrea Pratt of South Cambridge, N.Y., Rebecca Yount and her husband Jeff of Castle Rock, Colo., Wilson P. Pratt of Cambridge, N.Y. and Steven Pratt and his wife Barb of East Greenwich, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Thelma Wood and Dorothy Jones, and her brother, Warren Holland.

Funeral services for Helen will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington.

Rev. Raul Waters will conduct the service. Interment will be in the spring in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, from noon until the time of the service.

A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service at Helen’s home in South Cambridge.

If friends desire, memorial gifts in Helen’s memory may be made to the United Methodist Church in South Cambridge, N.Y. or to Hospice of Washington County, c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, VT 05201.
