Joseph Charbonneau Obituary

Joseph Charbonneau 1930 - 2008 ARLINGTON, VT. Joseph Alexander Charbonneau, 78, of East Arlington Road died peacefully at the Albany Medical Center Albany, N.Y., on Friday morning March 7,2008, following a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 15, 1930 in Manchester, son of Leo and Edna Lane Charbonneau, he grew up in Manchester and graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1948, where he was a member of the Vermont State Championship Football Team. He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War and attained the rank of sergeant. With a love for flying, he obtained his private pilot's license at the age of 16. He became one of the first members of the local flying club and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and had logged 3000 hours of flight time. Mr. Charbonneau was a life member of the Harned Fowler V.F.W. Post 6471 of Manchester. He was a communicant of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He had a passion for golf and was a member of the Equinox Country Club, where he was club champion for three years, and Dorset Field Club. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also loved to bowl. He leaves his wife of 52 years, the former Anna Marie Markey, whom he married Sept. 10,1955. Besides his wife, he leaves their son and daughter-in-law, Joseph H. and Mary Frances Charbonneau; grandsons, Austin and Aiden Charbonneau; nephew Richard Charbonneau and wife, BJ, and their children, Kelly, Amy, Jeffrey and Danielle; nephew Bruce Charbonneau and wife, Penny, and their daughter, Chelsea, and a brother-in-law, Roger Markey. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 11, at 10 a.m. from St. Paul's Catholic Church in Manchester Center. A prayer service will precede the Mass at the Arlington Chapel of the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME at 9 a.m. A memorial reception will immediately follow in the parish hall. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Columbans Cemetery in Arlington at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., when the family will be present. The Vigil Service will be held at 8. Memorial gifts may be made to the Arlington Rescue Squad in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 528, Arlington, VT 05250.
