Lance B. Woodard
1946-2014 NORTH POWNAL Lance B. Woodard, 68, a resident of North Pownal, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. Lance was born in Barton, Vermont on February 22, 1946 to Ned and Hazel Friend Woodard. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Lance served in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S. Enterprise from 1964 1968. He later worked for different companies including Johnson Controls, Isola, Taconic Plastics and Crane Paper where he retired from three years ago. Lance enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and recently enjoyed listening to talk radio and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a fan of John Wayne movies, George Jones music and spending his time as he pleased. Lance was a husband, father, brother and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Norma Bisson Woodard; two daughters, Vicki and Jessica; two sons-in-law, Jimmy and Lucas; his grandchildren, Lance, Austin, Logan and Emily; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Emery and Norma Woodard and Stanley and Linda Woodard; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Russell DeGraff; an aunt, Leslie Gearwar and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lance was predeceased by a sister, Judy Chiotte. The family would like to invite all to join them at the Pownal American Legion on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. for a celebration of Lance's life. Military honors will be accorded at 2:30 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Lance B. Woodard's memory may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad through the office of the MAHAR SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. In memory of a wonderful and fun-loving brother..we shared a great sense of humor and a love of traditional country music. Lance was a great father and loving family man to Norma, Vicky, Jessica, and grandchildren. I will miss him always.. and keep him in my heart forever.
