Ruth was an energetic lady who was so full of life, keeping active in her sports & activities! For many years my parents use to visit Ruth & Doug (her husband) in Arizona & at their Vermont summer camp. They always had such a wonderful time together. My mother Lillian Rice Herzog and her were lifelong friends till my mom's death in 2009. I am deeply saddened hearing about her passing. She always kept in touch with me & my dad, even after my mom's passing. Prayers to the surviving family. Lorene Herzog

Mrs. Mattison's 5th grade class is one of the highlights of my time in school in North Bennington. She had such patience when you struggled with a concept, and knew just how to challenge you when you were coasting along. I have such fond memories of our class trip to Montpelier, and our end of year picnic at Hedges Lake. She was a great teacher, one of the few I remember. There were few like her then, and are few like her now. Rest In Peace.

Mrs. Mattison was an exemplary teacher whose knowledge of subject matter and care and concern for her students helped to make the North Bennington Graded School the excellent institution it was. I especially remember her interest in history and the information she gave us about New Orleans--never imagining that I would one day move to that city--during the 1958-1959 school year.
