Cecil Wendell Smith, 86, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016. He was born May 17, 1930, in Scott to the late Sin Clair Jerome Smith and Alice James Smith. Cecil served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Alcoa Inc. as a pipe fitter. He was a member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Dollene Smith; two sons, Phillip Russell Smith and Derek Allen Smith Sr.; and four grandchildren, Derek Allen Smith Jr., Dylan Arron Smith, Parker Smith and Tiffany Smith.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church with burial following at Fairplay Cemetery. Bro. Larry Campbell will perform the service.
