Aline Chyla Obituary
DALTON Aline Marie Chyla, 67, of 135 High Street, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center, where she had been a patient the past seven days.Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, a daughter of Gerald and Doris Melanson Gallant, she was a graduate of St. Joseph Central High School and Westfield State College. Mrs. Chyla was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools, teaching in the Cosmetology Department at Pittsfield High School for more than 25 years. Aline was also the proprietor of Beauty Unlimited in Dalton, for thirty years. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening. Mrs. Chyla is survived by a daughter, Sarah Premo and her husband, Gregory, of Florence, Mass.; a son, Lucas E. Chyla and his wife, Meghann, of New Windsor, N.Y.; two grandsons, Elijah and Noah; a sister, Karen Blefari and her husband, Frank, and their son, Adam, of Dalton, as well as her life companion, Bruce Mendel. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Aline Marie Chyla will be held Saturday, March 1, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Agnes Church in Dalton, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Academy in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.

Karen: I'm in shock. I'm sure you remember that Aline was one of my oldest and dearest friends. Sarah and Luke, I'm so sorry for your loss. I left Pittsfield 17 years ago so you two were still very young. I remember when you both were born. Your mom and I would vacation at the cape and she visited me often when I lived in Delaware. Words cannot express the sadness I feel.

Aline's gentle manner and kindheartedness were prominent throughout elementary school and high school years, which set the pattern for her life. Her inspiration will live on through the lives of those she touched over the years. "He has raised her up on eagle's wings … holding her in the palm of His hands." All of us at the salon will miss having Aline. It was hard for me not to call her Ms. Chyla. After she sold me her salon, she would say "what is your name?" then when I answered she would say "and my name is Aline" She was my teacher and I just felt funny calling her by her first name. She was always so helpful and knew so much about our trade. We will certainly miss her.

My thought are with your family ..she was my cosmetology teacher 7 years ago ..she was a great teacher ..she made sure we knew the value of what we where doing and brought to people .. After I graduated I went back and visited often..she was an amazing teacher she inspired us all to want us to be better at what we wanted to achieve ..she pushed us at are goals and never took I can't or no for an answer because she knew we could even when we didn't....she believed in all of us ...she will be very greatly missed

I will never forget this wonderful gentle woman. I was lucky to have been her student 20 years ago. I can remember being at state boards as the examiner unrolled a perm rod and told me I wrapped it backwards. Only then did I realize I picked up on her left handed skills.(I'm right handed) I take pride in that. She taught me all about a beautiful profession that blossomed like a spring garden, and to have such a great teacher is a rare experience I will cherish. I will hold these memories in a special place within my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends
