Mrs. Palmer, as I first knew her, was my Kindergarten teacher 33 years ago. I don't think she had any idea what an impact she had on my life- I was the shyest kid in the class, so shy, I wouldn't speak to anybody, but Mrs. Palmer made sure to give me a hug every morning and make sure I wasn't forgotten, as a student, as well as, as a classmate. She was truly a teacher- that was her calling. Throughout my entire school career, she was always, unwaveringly, my favorite teacher. I'd recently tried to track her down, to no avail. I wish I'd been able to.
When I first read that she had no close family, I was saddened, but then, over and over again on Facebook, she kept popping up on my friends' timelines, how much she meant for them, what an impact she had on their lives, etc, and I found that, that's not true- she had lots and lots of family, many, many children. She was a wonderful lady. I hope my children have one teacher that makes as much of an impact on their lives as "Dot" had on mine.
Rest in peace, Mrs. Palmer. Thank you for the memories.
