Francis E. Gaudette

1925-2013 Mr. Francis E. Gaudette, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. He was born in Mechanicville, NY on December 19, 1925 the son of Lewis and Florence Lefebvre Gaudette. Francis was a Machinist's Mate First Class in the US Navy, serving on the USS Okanogan, USS Provicence and the USS Des Moines during Wrold War II. He was honorably discharged Sept 14, 1949. He was employed at the former May Engineering Company where he became a Tool and Die maker. He eventually worked for General Electric until he retired in 1988. After his retirement he focused full time on enjoying life! Francis was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and take long walks in the woods. He and his wife enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing cards and taking trips to Atlantic City. He was also well known for his ability to tell a good long story. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of VFW Post 448. He was also a communicant of St. Charles Church. Mr. Gaudette leaves his wife, the former Ethel M. Yoss, whom he married on April 15, 1950 in St. Joseph Church. He is also survived by two daughters, Cathy T. Gaudette Taylor of Egg Harbor Township, NJ and Karen A Gaudette Winslow and her husband Kevin Winslow of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Christopher Taylor (Melissa) of Reno NV, Daniel Taylor (Amanda) of South Amboy, NJ Ethan Winslow and Maggie Winslow both of Pittsfield; great grandchildren, Madison and Chase Taylor of Reno, NV; a sister Marie Sevara of Johnson City, NY; sister-in-law; Shirley Masdea of Pittsfield. He also leaves his son in law, Richard Taylor of Bowling Green, KY; four nieces Donna, Darlene, Jeanette and Anne Marie; a nephew Scott and his beloved cat, Simba. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Francis E. Gaudette will be Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 8 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Francis' name to The Berkshire Humane Society or St. Charles Parish Reaching New Heights Church Improvement Fund.
