Gilbert Galusha Obituary

Gilbert C. "Gib" Galusha

1936-2014 DALTON Gilbert C. (Gib) Galusha, 77, of Oak Street Ext, passed away February 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family by his side. He was born September 1, 1936 in Dalton, was the son of George and Christine Streeter Galusha. Gilbert attended local schools graduating from Dalton High School in 1954. He joined the Navy in 1955 and served on USS Lake Champlain and was discharged in 1957. Gib worked at Crane & Company in the Stationary division from 1959 1997, and retired assistant superintendent. He was an excellent carpenter and wood worker who also enjoyed camping and time with his family. He is survived by his wife Gordine (Gordie) Mills whom he married April 30, 1960, his loving daughter Christine Meunier and her husband Mark of Dalton, three grandsons Daniel, Matthew and Patrick and great grandson Tyler and sister Mary Helen Galusha Ford and her husband Ralph of Lenox, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Betty C. Galusha Kinney, Phyllis Galusha Cormier, brothers George and Edward Galusha and also a son Mark Galusha. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Gilbert C. Galusha will be held Friday February 21, 2014 at 1PM at the BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME 525 MAIN STREET DALTON MA, calling hours will be from 11am to 1pm until the time of the service. Following cremation burial will be in Ashuelot Cemetery in the spring. Please visit www.wellingtonfuneralhome.com to leave condolences for the family. Donations in his memory can be made through the funeral home to the Mark Galusha Baseball League of the Dalton Youth Center.

To Gibs wife Gordie and daughter Gib was a gentleman and Im sure a great husband and father ! Those we love are gone too soon as in the case of my husband also and daughter who passed 5 yrs ago! Had fond memories of Gib in high school / we dated for a year or more and when he was home on furlough he would call and we went to dinner and movies !
