In Mr. M's class we read Roald Dahl's "Danny, Champion of the World"; we tracked the batting averages of our favorite baseball players on the classroom wall, we learned how to use the LOGO programming language on the Apple IIe (and tried to outdo one another in the simple business simulation called "Lemonade Stand"); we learned about the 1964 Good Friday earthquake in Alaska; we wrote research reports on any topic of our choosing...it was a vibrant and joyful classroom and looking back it was one of the best educational experiences I had as a child. I'm so sorry to hear of this good man's passing. With great sympathy,
I went to High School with Bob. A really nice person. My thoughts and prayers go to his family. Bob now rests peacefully in the arms of our Lord.
Bob was my desk mate in homeroom for all four years of high school, and a teammate on the baseball team. A great wit with always a great outlook in whatever situation we found ourselves in. I have no doubt he was a joy to have as a teacher.
We all envied those who had Mr. Mastroianni in fifth grade. He was definitely a cool teacher. Prayers and blessings.
I was fortunate to cross paths with Bob from our early catechism days to Drury - to NASC. I have few regrets in life, but not taking the time to know Bob better is definitely one of them. To his family, my condolences at your immense loss. Gina Bellini Zauli
It is sad to lose a good man; my sincere condolences to Bob's family. We were classmates briefly at NASC; he was both well liked and respected.
Dear Bernadette and family,
We have lost a very kind and gentle soul. My daughter loved hav ing Bob for her fifth grade teacher and Mr. Mastroianni was her favorite. He was so caring and always went the extra mile to make his students succeed. He is now at peace and perhaps sharing a few laughs with my sister and old friend, Carmella.
Thinking of you all. Diane (Cantoni) Elias

John and Family -- I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I enjoyed visiting with him occasionally and of course enjoyed his presence at Williamstown Elementary. He was a gentle soul.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I taught with Bob in my very first years teaching at Williamstown Elementary, and I still think of him with great fondness. Bob was kind and funny and was always ready to offer sage advice to this newbie teacher. I can still almost taste his delicious peppers, too!
I am thinking about your family during this sad time.
Bernadette and family,
I had the pleasure of teaching with Bob in Williamstown. He was a fine teacher and a great person! So sorry Bernadette for your loss!
