Toni, Bob and Justin,
I just learned of your Mom's passing from an obituary in Harvard Magazine, and I am deeply saddened by the news.
Harriet and I worked together for many years on the Harvard Schools and Scholarship Committee, and from time to time we met in the living room,or the back yard, of your home in Villanova. Your Dad always had something funny to say before he left the Committee to our work. Later, Harriet would tell me of Toni's adventures in the Diplomatic Corps; I can still remember her consternation when Toni was posted to Damascus.
Harriet was a great lady with great style, and a great friend. It was a privilege and a pleasure for me to have worked with her.

To Bob, Justin and Toni, your Family friendship profoundly impacts my life. I have great memories of Tomi on the back porch of your cottage eating eggs with your Dad. Your Mother's laugh and the way her head would tilt back when she laughed. Her great head of red hair. Her love for her dogs, her long standing friendship with my Mom are just a few things I will always cherish. Most of all, I want to share this: when Steve and Mimi got married in the church in Philadelphia of course she was there. Harriet met my husband, Kerry Brown at the reception. The two of them must have talked for a half hour to an hour. I looked everywhere for my husband ( who by the way is afro american), finally here he comes with your Mom at his side, like old friends. Now, this comment, made by your Mom to mine, finally convinced my Mom that this guy really was a good guy. She said"Joan where have you been hiding this fabulous son in law?!" I am forever grateful ! From that day forward Mom accepted her black son in law with no reservations. What a great example she set. All my Love, my prayers are with you as you take her with you in this life. To quote Emily Dickinson "Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality"

To Bob, Justin, Toni & all the Barry Family,
We've enjoyed the great priviledge of sharing Berkshire time with your family for decades. Spending time recently with your very special Mom, helping her carefully select wines she wanted to share with her beloved family was, as it always has been, a sincere pleasure. Her intellect, grace and joy in her family were always a pleasure to witness.
We will miss her and think of her often with a smile and a toast.
Sincere condolences & love,
