I know Jeanne's friends here in Sarasota will be sad to learn of her passing. Ever since a trip to Rhode Island a while back, she had wanted to be with family in Providence, so I am happy she was able to spend her final few years there. An intelligent, cultivated woman with a keen sense of humor, Jeanne maintained a lively interest in the goings-on of the world at large. Although her family and art were clearly her main passions, she loved great books, travel, music, films, tennis, Italy, elegant cars, fine dining and being with friends... with nearly the same quiet intensity. I met her years ago in Pittsfield, then got to know her well after her move to Sarasota. We shared many memorable times together. I shall think of her fondly while remembering her witty, often wry, perspective on life's assorted vagaries, but mostly I shall remember her admirably generous spirit as a friend. My sincere condolences to David, Jeffrey and their families.
