AS friends of nearly 60 years, we were saddened by Joe's death. Coming to Pittsfield, MA in 1957 after graduting Austin Peay and the Univ. of Tenn. he worked at GE Ordnance until his retirement as a Unit Manager. We were well aware of his activities while in Pittsfield; his service as Boy Scout leader, member of the Berkshire Power Squadron and his membership at Morningside Baptist Church among others. He was a loving husband to his first wife, Carol Wasson Stitt of Pittsfield, and a wonderful Dad to his son David A. Stitt who shared his love of boating and fishing and so much more. Our sympathy goes out to his brother Jack and his wife Linda, and especially to his son David A. Stitt and his wife Deb, and his two grandchildren, Tyler and Daniel. He was a great friend and neighbor and we will miss him always. Frank and Marion Gilbert, formerly of Pittsfield

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I grew up with his son, Dave, and went on many family vacations with them. I learned a lot of lifes lessons from my "2nd Dad" He will be missed.

God may see you through this difficult time. You lost your beloved husband. Your loss then is also our loss. We lost one of best friends.
