Rivers
1951 - 2015 MIDDLEFIELD Jonathan V. Rivers, 64, of 43 East River Road, died suddenly, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at home. Born in North Adams on April 22, 1951, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Claire (Blair) Rivers. At the time of his death Jonathan was working as a courier for Adirondack Business Services, prior to that, he worked for several years at General Dynamics. Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman; his passions included logging and hunting. He was a "Jack of All Trades," he enjoyed being a handyman and fixing whatever he could get his hands on. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Owen, and teaching him the wood business. He leaves his wife of 45 years, the former Cynthia Mierzejewski, whom he married on May 16, 1970 at Holy Family Church in Pittsfield, his son; Shane J. Rivers and his wife, Denise and their son, Owen of Worthington, MA, his daughter, Janean F. Rivers and her companion, Richard Smith of Worthington, MA., his brothers: Kenneth Rivers and his wife, Patricia of Pittsfield, Kevin Rivers of Pittsfield, his sister, Sandra Barzowski and her husband, Daniel of Pittsfield, his nieces, Kellie Ceipiela and her husband, John of Windsor, Michelle Kruger and her husband, Mickey of Pittsfield, and his nephew, Matt Barzowski and his wife, Bethany of Pittsfield, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Dennis Rivers and his nephew, Mark Rivers. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Jonathan V. Rivers will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at St. Charles Church with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4p.m. at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jonathan's memory to Soldier On, in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
