To the family of Mike,
So sorry for your loss. Remembering my time spent with Mike only brings a smile. We worked together pumping gas
at Halpins Mobil Station in Lenox in the late 60s. One day while working he went next door to Gregory's market and came back with a half dozen popsicles.
He told me that Butch (the owner) told him to take all he wanted for free! He was cleaning out the freezer. I immediately ran over, asked Butch where the popsicles were and grabbed a handful. As I was leaving he asked if I was going to pay for them? I said I though you were giving them away?
Yeah, right! As I walked back over to
the gas station, Mike was sitting in the chair, his usual impish dimpled grin was replaced with a full blown knee slapping guffaw! He got me good that day. But that was usual working with Mike, always a funtime. He will always be remembered fondly.
