Michael Crow Obituary

Michael E. Crow

1954 - 2016 Michael Earl Crow, 61, of Clarksburg, Maryland, died Thursday at home following a brief illness. Born in Alexandria, Virginia on December 26, 1954, he was the son of Diana Crow of Easthampton, Massachusetts. A 1972 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton, Michael famously made his acting debut as King Arthur in Camelot at the age of sixteen. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from North Adams State, and, following college continued his acting career on the stages of the community theaters in Williamstown, with Thorman Hulse and other talented thespians. He married his wife and close companion, Diane Phan, on June 11, 2010. In addition to his wife, he leaves five children; Alyssa, Aaron, Rachel, Rowan and Reagan; three sisters; Sherrie, Betsy and Becky; his beloved brother Tommy; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; along with dear friends Cheryl, Michele, Mark, Donna and Billy; all of whom he loved dearly. Unwaveringly committed to the safety and security of his country, Mike took great pride in his work, providing mentorship to hundreds of civilians, service men and women as a dedicated businessman, colleague and friend to those lucky enough to have worked alongside him. A lover of adventure and exploration, he enjoyed travelling the world, documenting his journeys through photography, sampling fine cuisine, and making friends of all he encountered. Ever the dedicated tour guide, Michael loved hosting friends and family while a longtime resident of Washington, DC, and San Diego, California, and endured countless trips to Disneyland at the behest of his children. Whether walking the monuments of our nation's capital, watching the sun set on the sandy shores of California, drinking Guinness in Dublin, sipping espresso in Rome, or strolling through the streets of Santa Fe, Mike enjoyed sharing the finer joys of life with those he loved. Brilliant, sharp-witted and cynical, his charm and charisma were magnetic and endearing; to know Michael was to love him. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Michael E. Crow, 61, of Clarksburg, MD, who died May 19, 2016, will be held Monday, May 23rd at 10:00 AM at Pumphrey Funeral Home in Rockville, and presided over by the Reverend Talia Raymond, Michael's beloved niece. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring. In order to support and encourage youth in the arts, Memorial donations in memory of Michael may be made to the Wahconah Regional High School Drama Booster Club, 150 Windsor Road, Dalton, Massachusetts, 01226.

Relatives and Friends of Michael,

Apparently, I was away when Michael passed away and didn't have occasion to read his obituary until recently. Michael was my student at Wahconah and one of the first student-actors that I directed. I shall never forget how bright and talented he was at sixteen when I cast in the lead of Arthur in the musical "Camelot." Along with having Michael as an actor, I was able to recruit Diana who became the extraordinary costume designers for many of my subsequent dramas and musicals.

Currently, Annmarie and I are living in Dalton in our new house constructed in 2017. Only our son Eric, a teacher at Reid Middle School, lives in Berkshire County. Son John, who manages a large restaurant is in Orlando; son Christopher, a computer engineer is in San Francisco and daughter Sharon, a nurse-practitioner is in San Diego and Falmouth, MA.

Please know that you have my total sympathy for such an extraordinary loss and know that I will always hold Michael in my heart.

Warmest regard,
John

With this light, we forge a balance, making the darkness aware in its retreat. Go in peace, little brother man. I am always with you. . Thanks and love to all.

Mike was my boss at SAIC for several years until he left due to his illness. He truly cared about the folks who worked for him and was both fair and supportive. I did not know his family except through conversations and some photos he shared; it was apparent how much he loved all of you. I am sorry for your pain and grief and, although I am sure to a much lesser extent, I share it. You are missed, Mike. I pray that your family will be sustained during this period of grief and I am sure they will treasure your memory.

Mike, my brilliant, accomplished, kind, caring friend-I miss you so. My heart breaks for you Diane. I pray that you sorrow subsides and that you soon come to know he is ever at you side. To Lyss, Aar, Rach, Rowan and little Reagan, though so very sad for having lost you Dad - know that you are the very best of him. I love you all.
