We had our first sweet corn of the season the other night, and I thought of how evangelical Peter was about his produce. He was not a simple person by any stretch, but he took his simple pleasures seriously, breaking out a pressure cooker in corn season to lock in all the sweetness possible in 2 minutes flat, striving, even in the simple thing of handling an ear of corn, to do it the best way possible. I gather he was a titan in a world of which I know very little, a man outstanding in the banking field. But I will think of him always as a man out standing in a much greener field. I'll remember him in farms and gardens, perpetually celebrating life's best bounties.

What a man! He made coming to work in a large and unwieldily organization a real joy. He gave enormous responsibility when deserved, and uncompromisingly defended his troops. He did not micro manage but was incisive and decisive. With his wicked sense of humor, it was "we happy few" who worked in Citibank's loan workout group those years.!
Thank you Peter!

Peter always had a great, sly sense of humor. When David and I told people we were going to get married, he managed to congratulate us on the wedding and compliment me on my cooking by looking David in the eye and saying "You're going to pick up a few pounds!"

Peter was a very effective banker and an even better friend. He taught a lot of people how to think critically in stressful situations. They do not come along like Peter very often. We are lucky to them among us when they do.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We will never forget playing bridge with Peter in Williamstown where his strategy was to never let you play a hand even if it meant he lost every trick!! Fondly, David (ex IRM) and Magna Dodge
