To the Swann Family
I am so sorry to hear of Bob's death. I remember him at the boat Club, where we had spirited discussions about the world and growing tomatoes. He will be missed!

To the Swanns
I am sorry to hear that Bob has gone.
For the 'younger generation' Bob was a fixture in our childhoods -- irascible, enigmatic, and probably wise, had we only we stopped to listen.
I am sure he is enjoying life above us!

To the Swann family.

My husband and I met Bob and his family about 40 years ago. My uncle, Jon Willis, was one of his friends and my mother, Connie Willis Rutter, became very close with the family at this time.

Bob was a wonderful person and I'm really blessed and grateful that I had the chance to know him.

I was just 18 when I first knew him and didn't have any idea of the treasures to be found in books. He sent me 2 boxes of what he thought were essential books to read. He introduced me to all the greats: Austin. Dickens, Hardy, and many more. I feel in love.

Now, books are my best friends and I will always think of the wonderful treasure that Bob gave me. Now my grandkids are becoming readers and loving books too.

I hope you find peace at this time and treasure what a great brother you had.

Sincerely, Tina Marshall

I grew up with the Swanns, in particular Clover, but Bobby was usually around! My fondest memories were their Christmas Parties, and sliding down the front stairs on air mattresses! I loved their huge kitchen. My first time ever sailing was with Clover and her Father on Stockbridge Bowl! It was a very windy day! We took in water, and I, as a first timer, was petrified! What a sense of freedom I had at the Swanns!
I remember Bobby as Clover's older Brother..quiet,but watchful of us. He would create unusual and exciting things for us to do! It seemed that his Gardens were such a source of peace and Beauty for him!
Unfortunately, my 70th is on the 12th! I wanted to avoid it at all costs! But I have decided to make it a meaningful day! My Mom, at 96, died on the 22nd of October. My Sister found a beautiful stained glass window, which I am hoping to present to the Assisted Living where my Mom lived her last 6 years
on the 12th!
If this is not possible to do, I will make every effort to go to your service for Bobby... and Mark????
My Memories and loving, warm thoughts are with you!
