Ruth Poirot
1928 - 2015 FLORIDA, MA Mrs. Ruth Emma (Sumner) Poirot, 86, of 2 Poirot Rd. Florida, MA died Tuesday Feb. 24, 2015 at her home. She was born in Clarksburg, MA on July 25, 1928, daughter of Franklin and Irene (Racine) Sumner. She attended schools in Clarksburg and North Adams. Ruth first worked at Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. and then worked at Sprague Electric Co. for many years until her retirement. She also worked at Dunkin Donuts in North Adams. Ruth enjoyed knitting, crocheting, watching birds and cooking for her family. She served as a foster parent. She was the widow of Louis Henry Poirot, who died on Jun. 28, 1988. They were married on Aug. 17, 1946 in Florida, MA. Survivors include three daughters, Diane Smith of Florida, MA; Debra Welch and her husband, Robert of Dalton, MA; and Bridget Poirot of Cheshire, MA; and three sons, William Poirot and his wife, Donna of Florida, MA; Louis H. Poirot Jr. and his wife, Ruth of Florida, MA; and Robert Poirot of North Adams; and 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Robert Sumner of North Adams and nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son-in-law, Louis Smith; and one sister, Lena Foisey; and five brothers, Richard, Millard, Franklin, Milton, and Kenneth Sumner. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for Ruth Poirot will be held in the spring in the Florida Church Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Diane and family, Just want to tell you how sorry i am to read about the loss of your mother. Ruth was such a good person and a joy to be around enjoyed seeing her with you at Wal Mart and have a small chat with her once again. She will be missed by everyone that knew her .
