I met Bill Millin in June 1979 when I joined the Military Vehicle Conservation Group (MVCG) in reenacting the invasion of Normandy. I especially remember Bill "piping" us across the Pegasus Bridge similar to the way he piped his own military unit across that bridge during the invasion. It was quite a touching ceremony. Standing on the Normandy beaches early on the morning of June 6, 1979 (35 years after the actual invasion), in the very spot where many brave soldiers gave their lives, I could almost "feel" the pain and suffering and sheer terror that must have been in abundance all along those hallowed shores. My fond memories and utmost respect go out to Bill and his family. Thanks for a job well done, Bill! Hal Garrett, United States Air Force (Retired), Sumter, SC, USA.
