My wonderful classmate and friend. You will be missed. My condolences to the family.

When I go to be with the Lord one day, I hope my life will have looked alot like Joe Stanley's. The epitome of a gentleman, generous without reservation, kind under any circumstance, the most devoted of husbands, the most loving of fathers, the most faithful of Christ's followers. My faith and my family are forever different because Joe Stanley was a part of my life. Thank you Peggy, Hunter, Anna, Katie, and Drew for sharing him with us all for these many years. He was undoubtedly a "good and faithful servant."

What an encouraging and uplifting service for our friend, Joe. His Christian walk with the Lord gives men like me an example of how to be loving husband and father. I so enjoyed the times I spent with Joe when I drove over to hunt with him at his hunting camp in West Ala. After we had hunted during the day, we would always go to a place to eat that had good catfish. On our way back to the camp, we would have to stop and get a half gallon of ice cream, which we would take back to the camp and eat. We had to eat it all because there was not a freezer to keep it in! That was our excuse, anyway!
What a blessing to have known Joe and called him our friend.

While I am deeply saddened by Joe's homegoing, I am so very grateful for the influence he had on my life while we worked with the youth at SMBC. Joe was always a gentleman, kind-hearted and full of wisdom he was willing to share. He was a true picture of a "man after God's own heart", a model husband, father and friend. The celebration of his life was a fitting tribute to a man who lived life well and left an amazing legacy. Peggy, Hunter, Anna, Katie & Drew, you are in my prayers and always in my heart. With much love.

Joe Stanley---the finest of husbands, fathers and friends...a true southern gentleman who loved his Lord with all his heart and mind and soul...a friend who listened and led by example...who made us laugh and made us think and inspired us to be better people...a friend we loved and will greatly miss. We love you Peggy, Hunter & Anna, Katie & Drew. Thank you for sharing sweet Joe with us for all these years.
