In 1999, with Les's help, guidance, and planning, I visited the South Island of New Zealand for the first time . His reminder to me before I left was to not let the Kea's, (Mountain Parrots), eat my rental vehicle. I returned from my second visit to the South Island this past Sunday to find that Les had passed away. I have to say that my sadness was overshadowed by the fact that Les is crying with laughter at the state the Kea's left my recent rental vehicle in, (bits, pieces, and parts hanging everywhere).
Les Adams, all of your friends here at Deep South Outfitters here in Birmingham will miss your smile, laughter, and wonderful stories dearly. I cannot thank you enough for all of your guidance and support over the past twenty years. We should all take comfort in the fact that if heaven is anything like the rivers, streams, and oceans that Les Adams visited in his lifetime, we are in for a treat.
