TRIMMIER, LUCILLE ANDERSON, died at the age of 89, in The Woodlands, TX on October 19, 2007. She was the widow of Charles S. Trimmier, former Mayor of Mobile, and Alabama State Legislator. Mrs. Trimmier was active in civic affairs including Jaycettes, Azalea City Womens Club, Daughters of the Nile and Order of Eastern Star, as well as serving as President of Mobile OptiMrs and President of Fairhope PTA. She was a leader of the Mobile Cultural Mission to Spain in 1965, and received the "Medal of Civil Merit" from the government of Spain in 1968. She was a longtime member of the Pen Women of America, in addition to being a lifelong painter, singer and poet. The daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth Anderson, Lucille was born in Sister Bay, WS while her father was serving in France during World War I. She was raised in Evanston, Illinois and attended North Park College and Northwestern University. Lucille resided in Baldwin County from 1948 to 1953, when the family moved to Mobile. She was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. Mrs. Trimmier was employed in Mobile by the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Trimmier Law Firm until she retired in 1993 and moved to Texas. She joined the Woodlands Texas Community Watch, and was an active member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church. A member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Sarah Circle, she also sang in the Goldenaires Senior Choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Trimmier; younger brother, Donald Anderson; and granddaughter, Virginia Carey. Lucille is survived by children, Ginnie (Hugh) Carey of Newtown, CT; Steve (Rae) Trimmier of Mountain Brook and Point Clear, AL, David Trimmier of Mobile, AL, Benjamin Trimmier of Brooklyn, NY and Beth (Bill) VandeSande of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Andrew Carey, Newtown, CT, Chip Trimmier, Baltimore, MD, Hallie (Al) Gibbs, Mountain Brook, AL, Chris (Denise) Trimmier, Trussville, AL, Erin (Ryan) Brooks, Mesa, AZ, Wade VandeSande, The Woodlands, TX and Charlie VandeSande, Arcata, CA; and five great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 2:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Julian Walthall. The family requests that any memorials be made to a favorite charity.
