Richard Terlaje Obituary

Richard Joseph Terlaje, 77, native of Sumay, Guam, 20 year resident of San Diego, CA, and most recently resided in Ashville, AL with his wife, Sandra. Richard passed away May 15 after a battle with cancer. Richard served 20 years in the United States Navy. He served in the Vietnam war and was awarded numerous medals. After his retirement from the Navy he went to work for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department of Corrections. While living in San Diego, Rich loved 4-wheeling with the San Diego 4-Wheeler's Association. He enjoyed being outside. He fished, landscaped, gardened, and barbecued in his spare time. He is survived by his wife Sandra Gandy Terlaje. He was preceded in death by his mother Caridad Sanchez Terlaje. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Andrea Castro. He is survived by his brother, Henry Terlaje, of Las Vegas. He has seven children. Daughters, Yvonne Rafferty, Deborah Terlaje, Chelsey Terlaje and Hope Bosworth. Sons, Mark Terlaje, Ron Buie and Greg Buie. He has 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Navy Honor Guard Memorial Service will be at The Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled Americans Veterans Charitable Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Kentucky 41076.
