The American amputee soccer community is devastated by Robert's passing.
Robert discovered amputee soccer just after his accident. He immediately became a star in our game, so impressing the veteran players that we was named US National Team Captain for the opening ceremonies of the 1999 European Amputee Soccer Invitational.
He was also named to the US National Amputee Soccer World Cup team in 2000 and was looking forward to training camps and to being part of the 2018 World Cup this fall.
Our deepest condolences to his family, fiancée, friends and colleagues. He was a great guy, a great friend and great player. He will be missed.
Richard Hofmann, President
American Amputee Soccer Association

Ashley and Robert, I am so saddened by the tragic loss of your incredible son. I just learned of this terrible accident from my niece, Ginger Sherrill Wimberley, who attended the funeral on Saturday. My most sincere prayers are with y'all and your family as you grieve your loss and try to heal from this life changing tragedy. I will continue to keep y'all in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Ginger Sherrod Miller

While I do not know the Spotswood family, I know Mick Hellman, son of San Rafael Military Academy, Lowell High School, U.C. Berkeley classmate and friend, Warren Hellman.
My heart goes out to the Spotswood family, Olivia, Mick and Sabrina for the loss.
God Bless You, Rick Bradley
