Our world is greatly darkened by our losing our Uncle Bo. I didn't get to see Bo and Dora Ellen very often. But, I knew that I would see them on Decoration Day at Midway. In fact, the day was not complete until my Mama, Ruth was able to see Bo and Dora Ellen. And they both were just as happy to see us too. Bo, Dora Ellen, and all of the Prewetts from their generation each knew that which was their passion and what was required to be done so they could each live their passions. I always admired and yes, I a little envied the "Midas Touch" that all of the Prewetts seemed to have. Even when that which was before them seemed difficult, they each made that opus look easy. One thing I very much admired and deeply respected the basic core belief that a man's word is his bond.
As I look back, when some thing or another arose that needed taking care of, all that needed to be done was let one of the Prewetts get word something was up, the very one that had the expertise needed at that time would be right there to do everything possible to bring a quick solution, erasing whatever problem was afoot. Whether it was calling Wayne to repair an electrical problem, Jerry, Hershel, and Mary going far and beyond the norm when Mama (Ruth) finally learned to drive and bought her first car from them. I was able to realize my goal of obtaining my college degree because Maude and Joe, as well as Bo went to bat for me when the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs needed affidavits of my dad's service in WWII. Because they all went very much out of their way to help me made my earning my degree all that more special.
Without doubt, Bo was in a league of his own. Thing is, Bo was very different, in that, he - and Dora Ellen - welcomed all with wide open arms. The unsaid promise was, "if you hang around a little while, you will definitely learn something new that will make some things easier going forward.
Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers, not just now, but in the coming days. My love to each and all of you.

I know this man only through his fine son Tom, but these words are inspiring. So glad that he continued to travel and enjoy his final years. Emily Jones Rushing
