I remember Mr. Jordan very well. He failed me in Algebra 2. He told my parents, "Bob needs a bomb under his chair to get his attention in class". He did me a very great favor by flunking me. In my summer school make up class, I sat next to Susan LaSota. That alone was a bonus. But the best thing that came out of this tragedy was that it stirred up something deep inside me. At the U of I, I took as many math courses as a minor as I could fit in starting with a year in Calculus and ending with Analytic Geometry and Linear Programming. Today I tutor math at Morgan Park High. An activity I truly love. Thank you Mr. Jordan.

Mr. Jordan was a teacher who made a difference at Morgan Park High School. I was fortunate to have him as my teacher for Algebra and Geometry in 1957 and 1958. A few years after I graduated from college, he came up to me in a restaurant in Chicago and addressed me by name. I was amazed that he remembered me! I am grateful that I had a chance to tell him that I thought he was an outstanding teacher. He has remained in my memories of high school throughout the years and I hope his life was filled with joy and happiness.

It has been over 55 years since I sat in Charles Jordan's math classes at Morgan Park High School in Chicago. "Mr. Jordan," as he was known to his students, was truly an extraordinary teacher -- extremely smart, humble, kind, very interested in his students, simply the very best there could be. I often wondered what happened to him over the years and appreciate the care his family took to write such a comprehensive obituary. It was a great honor to have known him. My deepest sympathies to his family.

My condolences to all the Jordans. May you find peace and comfort in sharing your dad's stories and memories and in one another. Thinking and praying for all of you. Hugs to you Mimi!
