Miss you Kirby. Thank you for all you taught me.
Having just found out about Kirby's passing, I am deeply saddened. Mr. Campbell was my saxophone teacher while I attended graduate school at the university of Miami. Quite simply, he was one of the most incredible musicians I have ever known. He taught me much about the saxophone and music in general, yet some of his most important lessons were about life itself. He has influenced me greatly and I shall never forget him. Truly a kind, sincere, talented and humble man he was. May he rest in peace. I miss you Kirby!
I am honored to have known and studied with Kirby, a man who taught me much about music and life. His was a special spirit! Condolences to his family and friends.
I will think of you everyday for the rest of my life. I will love you, I will miss you and I will grieve for you forever, Good by Daddy.
John Kirby Campbell
My deepest condolences to Kirby's family and friends.
I will always be inspired by my predecessor Kirby. The consummate working musician - a guy who could play anything at any time on any of the wind instruments. A player in love with sound and tone! My experience with you at a very formative stage of my musical development was precious. You were always happy, always encouraging, always supportive. Thank you for being part of my life!
Bless you Kirby. Your teaching made a big impression on me as a young man. I appreciate everything you did.
I worked several jobs in South Florida with Kirby during my early years as a musician. I unfortunately never got to really know him, but do remember how highly respected he was by his peers. Sorry to hear of his passing, my sincere condolences to his family.
