Jerry lives in my heart everyday. He is why I am an artist and an educator. In the summer of 75 he knew I needed work and asked me to paint his house, I hope he didn't regret it, I was not a house painter. When I was finished I gave him one of my painting to say thank you. Jerry returned reciprocated and gave me one of his famous doodles when I graduated. God bless you Jerry.

If it wasn't for Mr. Brill I would never have gone to Art School. He challenged me in many ways and I challenged him just the same. He inspired me to see color in ways most people cannot, he inspired me to see shapes and forms that most people take for granted. He showed me the masters and how they worked the paint on the ends of their paint brushes. I graduated from Hauppauge High School in 1979 and went off to Alfred University School of Art and Design. When I graduated college I went back to visit the art department and all the enriched programs... painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics was gone and replaced with Apple Computers. It was a travesty... and maddening...That was end of the legacy of Jerry Brill at Hauppauge High School. Rest in Peace Mr. Brill... You will forever be my mentor and my inspiration.

Mr. Brill was one of my art teachers at Hauppauge HS and influenced my decision to continue my art education at the Art Students League, [email protected] and at The School of Visual Arts. He was a good teacher and inspired us to be creative and to appreciate our uniqueness. Just recently, I attended a painting workshop at Kanuga Institute in Hendersonville and if I had known he was so close by, I would've really enjoyed seeing him.

My condolences and prayers go out to his family. Your Dad had a profound influence on my life and my success as an artist and no doubt he was a good father as well. He will be missed by us all.

My condolences to the family and friends of a man who encouraged and inspired my art work. 4 fine years under the tutoring of a great teacher at Hauppauge High School were a dream come true. Constant urging by you and Mr. Albert to take the scholarship entrance exam at New York-Phoenix School of design won me a scholarship in 10th grade and a partial scholarship in 12th grade! Thank you! This experience changed my life and added enrichment. One of my teachers at NY-PSD was Bob Montana, creator of Archie comic strip. I have so many fond memories of art class with Mr. Brill and Mr. Albert, all I can do is smile, now. Rest in Peace, Mr. Brill. You are missed.
