R.I.P. Mr. D
Thank You for being a wonderful teacher.

To the family of John Michael Dickson,
I am Matt Keenan the current President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at Mars Hill University. We send our deepest sympathies and prayers for strength during this time. John was an outstanding band director, person, and brother. He exemplified what it was like to be a true Sinfonian; a man with character, heart, and the utmost love for music. We greatly value and appreciate John's contributions to music education and Sinfonia. We are proud to have called John an alumni of Mars Hill and a brother of the Pi Rho Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha.

Mr. Dickson was my favorite teacher of all time. He was dedicated to his students and the band. We always scored the highest score all four years i was there when we went to the yearly competition. He was not only a great teacher and knew everything you could possible want to know about music, he was a friend to all of us. He was quite funny too! He impacted my life as I am sure he did others on a way that i cant explain with words. I cant remember most of my teachers from high school, but Mr D as we called him, i remember like it was yesterday. I will cherish those memories forever.

He was a great man and everybody loved him. John wanted the west high band to always do their best. They wanted to do it the right way and not let Mr.D down. Mr.D rest in peace and enjoy heaven.
