As a neighbor and friend to Ruth in Etowah NC, we realized very quickly what an extra ordinary person she was. Her knowledge and interest of the world we live in seized to amaze us more with each time we were lucky enough to spent with her. She was a very interesting and unique person and we were so lucky to cross paths with her in our lives. She will be missed. Jane and Ray Thompson

I am so sorry to hear of Ruth's passing. Jesus wept after the death of his friend Lazarus. John 11:35. We mourn along with you. May the God who binds up the brokenhearted and comforts all who mourn sustain and surround you, until you meet again, Psalm 147:3.

Ruth de Lagerberg was my mother,s classmate and friend in NJ.She was my Godmother. With my middle name of Ruth , my mother ,Doris Roll, honored their friendship. My father, Art Roll, and Ruth,s husband, Guy, shared the same birthday date, July 22 . Guy was my Godfather.
I remember their home in Connecticut and in Etowah, NC. And, yes, the flower gardens were beautiful.
Aunt Ruth was generous with her holiday cards and wonderful tales of her travels. I kept in touch with post cards of my own adventures.
Aunt Ruth gave good advice on life, coming from her own experiences.
I am a bird lover because of her sparking my interest in watching and caring for them outside my windows.
Aunt Ruth will be missed. I am 65, and she has always had a lovely sense of connection to my family.
