To the Schembeckler family, I got to know Bo through 28 years of photographing all of the Michigan football games for sports Information, and for him. When Bo was roasted in Detroit by Adray Appliance I was the official photographer for the event and was able to bring my parents to the event and sit up front to be able to get images of all the guest speakers. When Bo & Millie arrived in a Limo I was out front to get that shot and my father, a hugh Michigan fan was helping me with my equipment, Bo saw me and said Rankin, How are ya doin? I replied fine and then I asked him to meet my father. Bo immediately changed the tone in his voice and said, Mr Rankin what a fine young man we have working for the University of Michigan. What a pleasure it is to meet you. My dad thanked him and as Bo walked away he gave my father a warm handshake and my father told every person that was a Michigan fan that story about what Bo had said to him about me. It was one of the highlights of his life. I think Bo was so much more than a football coach which was all he really wanted to be. He gave of himself to better humanity and was able to raise millions of dollars for charities because of his celebrity. He set the example of how to live your life and he made everyone that came in contact with him a better human being...by his example. God Bless you and your family, Bo. I will never forget what you did for my career, and my family. Barry Rankin

Thanks Bo!

Bo was such an inspiration, both on and off the field. My husband taught in the School of Ed from 1967-1985. He was impressed with the emphasis Bo put on education for his players! Yes, we have lost a great football coach, but we have lost a greater man! Sincerely, Sandy and Don Steer

A sad loss of a true legend. Rest in peace in the Big House, dear friend.
