ALBERT R. HARVEL

1933 - 2014

Albert R. Harvel, age 81, of Olathe, KS, passed away on September 8th, 2014. Al was born February 18th, 1933 in Kansas City, KS to Dan and Grace Harvel. He lived in Kansas City, KS until he was 15 years of age, at which time his parents moved to Kansas City, MO. Al graduated from Westport High School in 1952. He was in the meat business for 45 years. He was also in the real estate business. Al retired in 1997. Al was a former member of the Olathe Masonic Lodge #19. He joined the Abdallah Shrine of Overland Park, KS in 1980. He became a member of the Abdallah Oriental Band and was very active for over 20 years. He also was a former member of the Royal Order of the Jesters. He is survived by his wife Donna of 60 years. Al also leaves behind two sons Steve of Overland Park, KS and Mike (Kathryn) of Lee's Summit, MO; two daughters Traci Lawton (Greg) and Sherri Weeks (Mark), both of Olathe, KS; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Inurnment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to the Samuel E. Weeks Memorial Scholarship for Oncology Nursing at Children's Mercy Hospital.
