Dr. Pal, as she was known by all of us grad students in the Psychology Department, was so much more than the standard bearer for rigor in stats and experimental design. She was genuinely interested in students and force for their professionalism and accomplishment. Thanks so much, Dr. Pal.

Lucille was a legendary teacher in the Psychology Department at Tufts, but I also knew her as Alice's mother. Alice was a best friend of my kid sister Charlotte. The Dennetts lived a stone's throw (literally and actually, on a number of occasions, I blush to admit) diagonally behind the Palubinskases in Winchester. Who knows what tales she could have told my Tufts colleagues about my youthful mishaps and indiscretions, but so far as I know, she always treated me as her colleague, Professor Dennett, not little Danny Dennett from across the way.I enjoyed being her colleague, and can testify from years of personal experience that she was adored by generations of Tufts students.

I knew Dr. Palubinskas through her daughter Alice who was my room-mate in college. Dr. Pal set me up in my first job in statistics and welcomed me into her home for countless celebrations of holidays, birthdays, milestones, and more. As an educator and successful professional woman, she was my best and most valuable role model and mentor. Her influence on my life is and always will be incalculable, as I am sure is true for hundreds of other fellow admirers. I will never forget Dr. Pal and always be thankful that I had the privilege of knowing her.

My condolences to her family and all who loved her,
