Life is so fragile. It seems like only yesterday I was a child playing with my cousin Bruce. We were the same age. He was gentle, kind and very intelligent. He had a deep knowledgable voice even as a child. Nothing made him happier than his Civil War enactments with his toy soldiers. He also loved scouting. It makes me smile when I read about students who were afraid of him. Bruce was gentle and kind. His beard made him look older and scarier than he ever could have been. I think of you often Bruce as well as your sisters... From across time and miles....Love from cousin Kate

Mr. Barnett was the finest teacher I ever had - period.

On the very first day of 6th grade Mr. Barnett had us take out our notebooks and write one sentence at the very top.At my young age it meant very little to me.In retrospect it was the most profound sentence that has guided me through life.I have told the story of Mr. Barnetts sentence MANY times since that day.I whisper it inside my head alot."Organization is the key to succes".Thank you Mr. Barnett for providing me a sentence to live by.
He was such a gift to each one of us.R.I.P Mr. Barnett.

I remember growing up with in the WPS and always being scared to death of Mr. Barnett as he walked the halls with his students...straight single filed line!

My year came and I had the pleasure to be one of Mr. Barnett's students. He was one of my all time favorite teachers while in the WPS. He alwyas brought out the best in his students and made them strive for more than what we knew we could do!!!

He will be sadly missed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of sorrow!
