My condolences to the family of Dom DiMaggio. I never met Dom, but got to see him play centerfield at Fenway Park many times while growing up in Braintree and going to see the Sox play as a young boy with my Father. My Father always made it a point to tell me what a great center fielder he was, and how he played the game with great skill, and how he always crouched down to the left or to the right in center to get a better jump on the ball, and what a great arm he had for getting runners out. He also always mentioned what a credit Dominic was to the game of baseball.

To Mr. DiMaggio’s wife and children, other family members and friends, I offer my sincere condolences.

All of us in "Red Sox Nation" have lost an elder statesman, a living link to (our) baseball history.

I regret I did not ever meet him; his consideration of his fans proves he was not just a great ballplayer, he was a great man. His loss will be felt acutely.

From the first time I read about Dom Dimaggio, when I was only in the 3rd grade, through the rest of my life, I admired this wonderful person. He was a great player but an even greater man.

My deepest sympathy to his family. He will be forever missed and I'll always regret never having had a chance to meet him in person.
