Gene was a great man. I did lots of work for him at his home in Lynnfield. Great customer, along with his wife Bertha, they always made me laugh and were just a refreshing spark of enjoyment!Wish I could have seen Gene before he went to be with our Lord.

I had the pleasure of being on set with Gene on numerous occasions during his acting days and he and his lovely wife Bertha are two of the finest people that I have ever met. Gene was a warm and friendly man whose genuine nature and engaging manner made you enjoy his company in every way. I was getting my hair cut at Inn Style in Lynnfield today when Carol mentioned his passing back in August. Sadly, I did not even know that we shared the same Barber Shop. She told me that Gene would drive down from Maine to get his hair cut once a month. As a fellow SAG member, who met Gene back in the early 90's, and worked with him dozens of times over the years, and always with Bertha right by his side, I have to say that "they just don't make them like that anymore". I was lucky to have worked "all nighter's" with him, not to mention 14 and 15 hour days on many movie sets.... from "Housesitter", to "True Lies", "Against The Law", to "Unsolved Mysteries" and many many more. Having Gene and Bertha on set to talk with made the time go that much faster. I had not seen Gene since he stopped acting and certainly will miss his smiling face, engaging personality, over-all "good guy" that he ALWAYS was to everybody. When he lived on the North Shore we shared the same health club in Lynnfield and I would frequently run into Gene and Bertha at the club.
I want to extend my heartfelt sympathies to his SWEET WIFE Bertha and to their family. They just don't make them like that anymore....
With a heavy heart but better for having known Gene....

Although I only met Gene a few years ago, Gene made a lasting impression on me just by being himself. There wasn't any pretense to Gene. I think that is an admirable quality and one sorely lacking in the world today. I am sorry to see him go but wish him peace.

It was a pleasure to have known Gene and to have worked with him for 32 years. Rest in peace, Bill and Meg Shoemaker
