I had the pleasure of being in the BDs with George. He truly was the classiest, coolest cat at Yale. I was just a Freshman when he was a Senior. Two things I'll never forget:
1. We all took a trip up to Smith for a jamboree. Callow, dopey and afraid. Freshmen without a clue. Rather than stew in our own failure, we decided to trail George as he made his way through campus and all the parties. Needless to say, simply being in George's "wake" was a privilege. Every girl in the place gave him a look (and we got to vicariously feel the thrill.) He was a charmed individual in so many ways and a total winner who was so incredibly kind to me and a shining example of who I could aspire to be.
2. When I emerged from Yale with fifty rejection slips to accompany my desire to be in advertising I turned to George who magically found a spot for me at Saatchi in his account group! I loved mh first job and he always kept an eye out for me.
HE WAS A MAGNIFICENT PERSON AND THE WORLD IS A BETTER PLACE FOR HIM HAVING BEEN IN IT.
I HOPE HE IS SINGING IN HEAVEN AND MAKING THEM ALL SWOON AS HE DID ON EARTH.
MUCH LOVE,
STEVE CRYSTAL YALE '90

I met George through the Baker's Dozen, at Yale. Because he was a year ahead of me, and sang the same part I did (Bass), I relied on him to help me learn all the songs in the repertoire. I will always remember him as kind and generous, as well as funny, in a kind and generous way. I remember visiting him many years ago after his tumor, and how there was so much positivity, despite the things it took away. I'm so glad to read that he was able to continue to have such a blessed life through to the end. I'm glad to have known him.

George and Ward became friends singing in the Pops Chorus and offering rides to and from Chorus. He talked of his pride for his son and daughter. We do not know of a more gentle soul.
