Chet and I shared the driving to Emerson Collge in Boston in the late fifties. We were good friends, and I'm sorry we lost touch.
Murray met me at my college while he was giving a class. He told me to call his friend about a job. His friend was Chet Block. My interview was "let's go to the mall" and talk. We talked about; books, music, whatever. That is how I got my job at AITS. He taught me so much. Especially about people and life. I have fond memories of Chet. This world is a little smaller now with his loss. You were one of the greatest!! Joan Dwyer, ex tour director
Dear Chet: You will live forever in the hearts of many, including me. Always kind, thoughtful, full of life and stories. You always sent birthdays cards on behalf of Brookline Rotary. You were truely "one of a kind ." Go and meet with with my dear Wally and laugh again with him. My love is with you, Deborah Telles-Palladino
I know you are still watching over me. I will miss you always, especially on Sunday nights when we shared Chinese food. You will always be in my heart. You were the best friend I ever had. Will miss you! With my love your friend Ronny
"Uncle Chet " was a national treasure who set the bar very high for those among us who were blessed to know him.
He was such a generous, kind, elegant gentleman.
AITS was an extraordinary place to work and for a select few,who became part of an elite international network, our lives were changed forever.. at a very tender age. Thanks to the love, wisdom and guidance of Uncle Chet and Uncle Murray we were "family". It was always so much fun to reconvene with Chet and Murray at the Place for Steak in Chestnut Hill and share stories as our paths would arbitrarily cross from our weary international travels. Adored and admired for his strength and loyalty..rest in peace Uncle Chet,we will miss you!
Chet was a wonderful friend & he always wanted to DO for everyone else.He did 2 very important thing, that set me in another direction. 1st was from AITS--got me to go to Bermuda, which started my career in the Travel Ind. Then on to Brkl. Rotary. He so loved to cook & eat. Whenever he talked about something , he was sooo discriptive--He would almost salivate & you along w/ him. Chetty, I'll miss you, very much.
Give Uncle Murph a hug for me--
Chet was an extraordinary guy!! He will be missed!!
Chet was a uniquely talented lovely person. I will remember always our special close friendship. He was an integral part of my life
It is with great sadness that I write and remember a man who was larger than life to me as a late teen. Chet took me under his wing and helped me see the world thru dedicated, customer-service oriented people – and oh the fun we had! In classic storybook fashion, Chet helped me move from the AITS mailroom to Hawai'I – a dream come true that resonates to this day in head-shaking disbelief. Working at AITS was a fantastic once-in-a-life-time journey, made possible by the kind-hearted, hardworking, omnipresent, yellow-page book ripp'in Chet Block. Always in-fashion, always with a smile, always with a light-hearted joke, Chet is reminiscent of a style and class that seems to be non-existent today. Chet, Me ka aloha pumehana, e pili mau na pomaika`i ia `oe, ke Akua pu a hui hou.

ALOHA, CHET....you will be missed. Thanks for teaching me the meaning of true customer sservice. YOU WERE ONE OF A KIND....Thanks for the memoreies...the places I traveled to..your generosity...RIP. U will always be in my heart. LOve to Murray,AL, Frand and Rose.
Wow, I just heard the news this morning and immediately the memories came flooding back. Chet laughing, Chet walking in circles around all of us, Chet telling stories, spinning yarns, teaching us the meaning of customer service at AITS. What a blessing for us to have known him. Of all the times the universe chose to put me on this earth, I am so glad it was at the same time and place as Chet!
Chet will always be remembered as the "quintessential" tour escort. There are so many people who have wonderful stories and memories of him and AITS. Good tour directors never die, they only fade away. He was one of a kind. RIP Chet and give my regards to Murray, another "great" one.

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Please find peace and comfort in Psalms 65:2.
Chet was such a joy to know when I worked at AITS. We were in contact years later and he was even more gracious. RIP, dear Chet.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Chet's passing. He will always be remembered fondly by everyone that ever worked with him within the travel industry, especially his old AITS tour director "family".
Many will agree that we spent some of the best years of our lives working with him. Thanks for the memories Chet. We will miss you.
This is a great loss. Chet Block was one of a kind who gave so much to everyone who knew him. He instilled a true sense of service and joy in all of us who worked for him at AITS, and I am eternally grateful for the world he opened up to me.
