RIP, Sir. I owe sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Woody Hastings, who gave me some much-needed advice as a troubled student and was instrumental to me graduating on time.

Oh my goodness, what an inspiring life story. Also, how sweet that Woody's kids were there to help him pass from this life. Such love.
My condolences to his loved ones who will carry his spirit on and on.

Dear Jennifer ,David, Laura,and Marissa,
It was with great sadness I read of the death of your father. At the age of 16 I worked for him in his lab in Woods Hole and it was my first real job (for no pay) .Dr Jim Moran a post doc from southern California was there as well. Your dad was one of my early mentors and introduced me to the world of science and the wonderment of observing nature. Woody had a facile mind and a gift for teaching coupled with a human compassion that allowed him to be both scientist and humanist. He was his own bioluminescent light to others and I am grateful for his helping to light the road to my professional life.
We are at an age when we bury our parents ,as I have my father. The loss does not fade easily but no day will go on without him returning with love in your memory.
Warm Regards,
Andy Wexler
PS though i live in CA I still do get back to Woods Hole (be there in 2 weeks) and I hope will run into you in the future.
