To the Sakillaris Family,
I could not let this moment pass me by. I just found out about Mike's passing today and now I know why he did not answer my last email.
I worked with Mike for nearly 25 years!! I feel compelled to let you know (Kristen and Renee) just how wonderful a man he was, how much I enjoyed working with him, and just how often he spoke of the two of you!! Even though Mike poured himself into his work, you both were his world! Kristen, he and I would share stories about our girls - my daughter is Christine. You are both about the same age. He was so proud of you and the things you were accomplishing (waterproof suit!!) We would also share stories of our own illnesses and what we were going through, and we would share stories of our families. One that I shared with him was that of my brother-in-law, Troy. Sadly, after several years of battling cancer, we lost my brother-in-law, ironically on the very same day Mike passed! I find it strange that Troy used to talk about this couple that he liked, who would come into his store in Newton and who were so nice to him. Their names were Mike and Renee. Another coincidence?? If so, I know that they are having a wonderful visit up in heaven. What a pleasure Mike was to work with. He greatly enjoyed talking about all that he knew and learned, and was a wonderful teacher. I could go on and on but most importantly, I want to let you know just how saddened I am to learn of Mike's passing, and want to let you know just how much he cared about the two of you. Mike was a great guy and he will be missed dearly. I pray that your memories be of great comfort to you.
