Ralph - my second Dad. So thankful for a visit in Sept. You have been an inspiration to me all my life & I always looked up to you. The man, husband and father that you were really spoke to me all these years. The way you loved your family and invited me to be a part of it was such a privilege. You set a wonderful example of a man who loved his wife dearly. Thank you for your integrity and steadfastness to so many. I will miss you greatly.

Dad,
You were such a wonderful person, so generous and kind, thoughtful, calm and patient, never rushed, always thorough, always striving to improve yourself throughout your life. You lived your life the way you wanted to, right to the end. Because of your example, I've always believed that I could do anything I put my mind to. You were so strong, courageous and loyal. As a Marine in WWII, you were willing to sacrifice your life for the country that you loved, and no sacrifice was too much for you to make for your family. Sometimes I wish that you'd sacrificed a little less in recent years, so that maybe you'd still be here with us. But it gives me some comfort to know that you were doing what you wanted to. Our family was everything to you. All who knew you remarked on your incredible devotion to Mum and on your honorable character. You were a great role model for us. You were so knowledgeable about so many things. I miss your humor, your calmness, your wisdom, your stories, and our long chats that were more frequent in recent years on the many common interests that you and I shared. You loved life! You loved nature, your gardens, growing things just to watch them grow, creating things, and you passed these loves down to me to sustain me through my life. You had such an interesting life full of adventures and stories to tell, and I wanted to hear them all. You adapted to the changes in your life and so showed me how to do that. You taught us not to get discouraged, not to give up. You had so many stories left to tell and so much life left in you. I miss you so much, Dad, and will always love and remember you. Your spirit lives on in me, and I know that you are smiling on us as you watch the ways that we are all keeping your spirit alive. Love from your daughter,
Marie

Papa was a great man and an excellent example of how to live life fully. He was the most hard-working and thorough people I have ever met, and he never met a problem he couldn't fix. I will never forget the cookouts, playing with hot wheels and army men, and Christmas evenings at his house. I have learned a lot from my grandfather, and he will be greatly missed. I love you papa.

Dad,

What a wonderful person you were. You were a simple man who did extraordinary things. Coming from a poor immigrant family in the depression era, you developed a strength of body, mind and character that allowed you to help your parents make ends meet and raise your younger siblings. Your service as a Marine in combat in the Pacific during one of our country's darkest hours was so courageous and was always an inspiration to me during difficult times. I admired you always. You quietly built the structure of our family's life just as you quietly and continuously built everything in and around our house. Nobody worked harder than you. You did the same for all of us as we moved into our own homes. Everywhere we look we see you. You were such a great husband to Mum for so long, and although she misses you terribly she also still feels safe and well cared for because of all the supports you built around her. That faithfulness that kept you together for 60 years also made you such a great employee at Artisan for 60 years. You were genuine, without an ounce of pretension about you, and we loved (and still love) you for it. Your simple life was long, meaningful and extraordinary. And we all miss you. Remember us as we remember you. Your son.
