sorry for the loss of EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER my prayers go to the family at this time

I met Mrs Shriver in 1986 in the City of Worcester. She began the official Play to Grow group along with my old friend Caroline Duffy. These two women were the original inclusion specialists. Noone ever had to tell themwhat to do to include everyone in to life, they just followed their hearts and did what was right.

My family will always remember the many years with our Katie at Special Olympics.
Katie was born with Down Syndrome and hearing impairment; however, she was able to live in a group home as an adult and live with assistance. She enjoyed over 30 years in Special Olympics bowling, gymnastics, and track and field. Katie loved Special Olympics and all of us have at least one of her many medals. She was very proud and so were we. Katie passed away on St. Patrick's Day in 2008. My family will never forget your contribution to Katie and all the others with intellectual disability. The Kennedy family spurred forward research and education for this population.
Thank you so much.

The beauty of your life prevails in the life of your children. Maria has captured your spirit and truly carries the torch of the next generation. Today she eulogized Sargent Shriver knowing that he has joined you, Joseph, Kathleen (Kick), John, Joseph Sr., Robert, Rose, Patricia, Rose Marie (Rosemary) Edward and now Our Sargent Shriver. The table is set with Joseph at the helm the Sunday afternoon’s touch football games will go on as planned. My dear Eunice I am sure that this Sunday's game will find you scoring a touchdown with Sarge standing on the sidelines. Next week's game will be a blast because Sarge will be in full gear and all of Heaven will know the love of your life has entered the game. We miss you, John, Robert, Jackie, John Jr., and all of the rest. It would appear that all of you were like family members and we truly mourned your passing.

I thought that the way John and Bobby left would be the saddest but really it was your passing followed by our dear Teddy that left me truly sad, because now a legacy was coming to an end. Dear Sister Jean is still with us and we pray that she will continue to have a long life because we are not yet ready to say goodbye to a family who has given so much. We have lived on the outer perimeter of your life and peered in as voyeurs at both your public and private sorrows. We did not mean to gawk but we loved all of you so much we wanted to share with you in good times and bad.

Welcome the Sarge and then keep watch over all of us until that Great Day when the roll is called and then we will meet you somewhere up there in heaven but we know not when for we have miles left to travel before we sleep. To all of your children we offer our prayers that God will grant them length of years.
