I am saddened to learn of Bill's passing. He was a teammate and roommate of mine in our hockey days with the California Golden Seals organization. His fun loving and competitive spirit will live with me forever. Those of you that knew Bill know how competitive he was. At our first pro camp in Kingston Ontario with the Seals I remember my roommate taking a few hits because he was an American and he stood out. In those days players would go to camp to get into shape. He was in shape when he got there and intent on making the team. I am embarrassed now to recall that I even tried to convince my training camp roommate to cool it and bring it down a notch. He told me that he was not there to make friends, he was there to make the team. That was Bill. I knew what was coming. Guys were taking runs at him that would make us cringe. He never once complained and never slowed the pace. Some time later during the season on a rather innocent play Bill took a hit that put him in the hospital with a serious knee injury. I drove his car back to Massachusetts for him. Bill was one of the fastest skaters I had the pleasure of ever watching andI can now only wonder what great career he might have had otherwise. RIP my friend.

Billy's obituary beautifully captures who he was to those around him. A great heart and so much fun. I was his freshman year roommate at UNH (The "Owl" was Billy's name for me). My most sincere sympathy to his family. Blessings to you as you transition to life holding on to his love and cherished memories. Peace, Mike Samara

I played hockey with Bill on the Wellesley peewees and bantams many years ago. Great player and teammate. I remember his father as a very talented coach who never played favorites. Prayers for Bill & the family.
