Dear Imette,
I thought I would not acknowledge your tenth anniversary because it was just so painful. But I feel I can't simply let it pass. You're too important to remain silent and not to talk about and remember.

I was so blessed to have the privilege of being your 1st grade Reading Teacher, and your 3rd grade classroom teacher. We were in a very small classroom that year, and it was so wonderful to see so many of your classmates (and yourself!) pass the advance class test and eventually move on to Boston Latin.

I have a page in my prayer book where I have listed all 16 members of that class, and I can remember them all because it was the best year of my life.

My oldest, Alexa, was also in the third grade, and my youngest, Richa, grew up still retaining an uncanny resemblance to you. I am so fortunate to have such a constant reminder. Every time I kiss or hug her, I hold you too, in my heart. It reminds me of the e.e. Communing a poem, "i carry your heart in my heart."

And I wait, Imette, with all the other people who love you, we wait here on earth, knowing someday, we'll all be together again, and I will be so happy to see you again!

In the meantime, Richa is getting married on Sunday, April 17th and I will carry the little paper crafts you made me in 1989. I will carry them down the aisle, just as I carried them to Alexa's wedding, to Camille's and Ezra's birth in the hospital, and now down the aisle again. You are always here. Till the end of time, you're there, my bright and shining star.
Loved always, Mrs. Tedoldi
