JAMES ENTWISTLE Obituary

Entwistle, James Neil "Jimmy" Died February 20, 2014 at his home in Plymouth. He was born in Boston on March 15, 1920, of the late Charles Entwistle, and Catherine (O'Neil) Entwistle. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Fisher of Stoneham. Raised in Everett by his loving aunts and uncles, graduated from Everett High School, then joined the US Coast Guard 1940, then serving during WW II in Navy on the USCGC Duane. In 1942, he partook the infamous event; "Miracle At Sea" where then Lt. Goehring was "Swept Away and Back Aboard" onto the Duane of this dramatic rescue formed by a human chain of the ship's crew. Jim was also quoted in a historical account of WWII in the book Bloody Winter. Jim went on to become a printer by trade and worked for Ginn Publishing, Cuneo Press, and Currier Citizen. He lived in Burlington for many years before retiring to Herring Pond in Cedarville and later Plymouth. He is the beloved husband of Marjorie "Beryl" (Northrup) Entwistle of 64 years, and loving father of Lisa, Laura, and James. Jimmy was an avid pool player throughout his life, played high school baseball, and later in the men's softball league, and coached Babe Ruth. He enjoyed retirement and spent several years playing golf, enjoying Cape Cod; was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. The family will plan on a memorial service at a later date. Donations can be made to Cranberry Hospice, Plymouth, MA.
