Uncle Bud was such a good friend to all of us in his extended family. When Bob Leahy and I moved to California he used would call us from his phone company job and connect us to Nana for a nice, long [free] talk. We never asked him for that gift, he simply gave it out of the kindness of his heart. I loved the way he took such tender care of Aunt Dottie, who was always frail. He was a wonderful human being.

My favorite thing about Uncle Bud was the way everyone in the family adored and treasured him. That says a lot about the kind of man and role model he was.

Uncle Bud was a kind and generous man. When I visited Boston in my 20s, he spent the day touring me through the city, took me to the JFK Museum, drove me over the Charles River and was generally good company. He's a wonderful man and he will be missed.
