Dear Ellie, Ann & Sheila,

We are so 'sorry', to have learned about John & your Dad's passing....You were there at Jan's & Jane's services, which gave us so 'much' comfort. We feel terrible, that we weren't there for you guy's.

Billy & I had a long conversation, lamenting about our absence...It eventually turned into us talking about the old day's...Bill told of a time or two where he ran across John at a work site & he took time to explain his job to him, along with a couple of conversations that he had recently, one of which was the day you Ellie, were to come home from the hospital....I talked about 'baby sitting' & climbing all those steps, for 'Lovely & Lovelier', in Dorchester, as I referred to them, when I'd be talking to my 'Mum'....

I still remember the day I visited down the beach, John was there & you had just bought a boat/sailfish, & I asked if it had a name & John piped right up & said it's called the 'Credit Union', I laughed so, it still brings a smile to my face, 'great name' !....Billy remembered there was a time that Dad (Demps) brought us down to Campers Haven, late in the season, September/October after or maybe during a Hurricane to check out the waves & we watched the Seagulls as they would collect the clams that washed up onto the parking lot. They'd fly up 10/15 feet & drop them, yum-oh !

Billy talked about pictures he has, somewhere, when his kid's were little sitting on some kind of animal statues one of your next door neighbors had, Rose, maybe Rosa's?? & renting those 'special' bikes you could toss the little ones in & take them for a ride....

Ellie, I still remember the pet's, 'Doogan',
a 'good guy' !... One day, John had me laughing so, he was telling me about the latest sneak attack, your two 'terrorist' Siamese had made, 'Suey & ??....He was very funny.....& finally, we'll 'never forget, John insisting that, 'Potato Salad' or 'Macaroni Salad' without,'Bennetts',was un-American !

And so it goes, "The way we were"...

The Dempsey boys...

John was one of the nicest ,kindest men that i have ever known. I have not seen John for over 50 years but I will always remember him as being such a gentle man.
