I was saddened to hear of Jackie's passing. He and my father (John Byrne) were cousins. Several years ago, I came across a photo of the "old homestead" in Ireland. Unable to identify the house or people in the photo, I sent a copy to Jackie. He was so excited to see the original home and the people in the photo were his grandparents (my great-grandparents)! I will always be grateful to have connected with him and his wealth of family knowledge. He will be sorely missed.

With great sadness I have learnt of the death of dear Jackie. RIP. He visited our childhood home in 1949 not long after his serving the USA in the South Pacific. We, his cousins, saw him as a hero. We kept in touch all those years. He and Dot gave me a wonderful holiday at their home in Florida in 1991. He had great attachment to the Gallagher "seat" at Whitepark, Curraghboy. All the family loved him dearly. Deepest sympathy to Joey, John, Paul and all the family. May his dear soul rest in peace. Love, Bridie (Gallagher, Essex)

To Joseph, John, Paul and families,
I am sad to hear of dear Jackie's death, may he rest in peace. he was a great and good person. I have happy memories of his first visit to his beloved White Park, 1949 and subsequent meetings with him in Ireland and London. I last spoke with him on St Patick's Day on that occasion he said we'll next meet in heaven where he is now enjoying his eternal reward. I send you my sincere sympathy. Love Rita

To John & Joe and all the Gallagher Family
I am very sorry to hear of the death of Jack, may he rest in peace. Jack was a lovely, kind man and was always interested in hearing about Whitepark and getting all the news from Ireland. He talked with great fondness of his trips to Ireland in 1949 and again in 1977. Deepest sympathy on your sad loss.
